T.I. set to act in "American Gangster" film.

The self proclaimed King of the South T.I., appears to be making a run at the acting throne as well.

He's recently signed on to star in "American Gangster," alongside veteran actors Denzel Washington and Russell Crowe. Ridley Scott, director of Black Hawk Down, Gladiator, and Thelma & Louise will direct.

American Gangster tells the story of a 1970's drug lord who smuggles heroin into Harlem inside of Vietnam soldiers coffins. T.I. has signed on to play the nephew of Denzel Washington's character Frank Lucas, while Crowe will star in the film as Detective Richie Roberts.



American Gangster is slated to hit theaters in 2007.
