Freck Billionaire: From The Block To The Yacht

Freck Billionaire: From The Block To The Yacht

Like many rappers that have come before him. a couple years back Freck found himself in prison on drug charges. While in jail a girl would send him the Robb Report, a luxury lifestyle magazine. The 25- year -old West Philly native became the Billionaire while incarcerated , he took the moniker because he wanted to live the lavish lifestyle he saw in the magazine. Fresh out of jail he linked up with production team, The Track Masters, and after an impromptu verse landed a deal with Arista, where he was signed by music mogul LA Reid.. He then made a guest appearance on Tamia’s single “More,” and it seemed that he was well on his way to turning his his dreams a reality, but Arista records folded, and LA Reid moved on to Def Jam, and Freck found himself once again without a deal, but not for long, enter producer JiCE, A.k.a. “ The Boy Genius,” and CEO of Sizzle Records. JiCE signed Freck because as he says: “ I seen the star quality in him, hands down he is a star, his attitude, his personality, let alone his talent, he rhymes like no one else can, he talks about things in such a way no one else can, He’s street as fuck, but still clean as shit.” Freck and JiCE are now making moves together in an effort to bring Sizzle records to the mainstream, with Freck Billionaire up to bat first, things are looking good for the new label.

Where you from Freck?

West Philly, a part of West Philadelphia, that they call the bottom.

How was life growing up in West Philadelphia?

It was what it was, I had to do what I do basically the same story as a lot( of other people in the hood) just a little different from others. I was in the streets since the age of 13 to the age of 22, doing what I had to do, making ends meat.

.How did you make end’s meat, by making music?

I wasn’t really making music then, I was in the streets I was hustling, selling crack. I first got locked up when I was 18 -years- old in West Philly. From the age of 18 to 22 I was locked up about 19 times.

Why the name Freck Billionaire?

I got freckles on my face, and billionaire, back in the days that was just my ultimate goal. Basically I knew where I was going, not in between, not middle class or nothing like that I knew where I was on my way to, that’s basically how I represent for my music. Everything I do, I do it real, real major on a billionaire level.

.Are you a billionaire financially, it’s more of a term right ?

Yeah,

That’s what your aiming for?

Yeah, definitely.

What happened with Arista records? I read you were signed to them.

When they first signed me, soon after they had fired LA Reid, so the whole label collapsed at the same time. LA Reid was the one that singed me and the label was over like a month later, So I ain’t never have a chance to really make a whole bunch of records or do anything, it was what it was after that.

Why didn’t LA Reid try to take you with him to Def Jam? Since he was named the Chairman of the Island Def Jam Music Group

I wasn’t directly through Arista, I was with Track Masters, Track Masters in turn put me on to Arista. So I was with them if anything.

How did you link up with Track Masters?

I was out of jail for a little bit over a week , so one of my man’s had an R&B artist and he was bringing him up to track masters so they could hear what the dude sound like. I just went for the ride to New York from Philly, and one thing led to another, they was listening to some music and shit, and they heard a nigga rapping on there. And the nigga Tone from Track Masters was like niggas is coming up from Philly, they hot, like direct.. So my man was like my man right here , he crazy, so the nigga Tone looked at me and said “you hot?,” and I asked him, “ nigga, is your beats hot? After that, he just asked me to rap and it was history since then. I was there for about two hours and then they looked at me they was just like yo you ain’t never got to go back home if you don’t want to.

What did he mean by that, you ain’t never have to go back home?

I mean, the deal was done, it was a done deal.

Who have you worked with as far as producers and artists so far?

I worked with Track Masters, Just Blaze, I already been fucking with Fabolous, Tamia, Tyrese. Omarion, Red CafĂ©, Foxy, that’s basically it.

I know the Tamia track you did called “ More,” was on her album, did any of your other material you did with those artists get released?

Nah, what happened was soon as I signed with LA Reid and them, we did the deal and they put up the budget we started recording, you know the type of music track masters make so initially we just wanted straight singles we was going in that lane, fucking with niggas like Omarion, but you know I recently did a few other things with a few niggas but it was basically off that first budget, we got the budget and within the first couple of weeks, we was just getting it popping.

So what are you going to do with those tracks you recorded?

I’m gonna take those tracks and make them work for me with what I do, but they could get played, music is made, I’m playing it for whoever want to hear it. I do what I do, as far as talking that shit, I talk that fly shit, and bar for bar niggas out there can’t fuck with me doing it. When I go into offices, I spit for CEO’s I leave out with a check. I don’t leave out with nigga’s saying I’m gonna call you and we gonna get in contact , we gonna see what’s up, nah they basically say we could stop all the meetings and we can do it, When I went to meet LA. Reid, when I went over to Arista, Jermaine Durpi was having an A&R meeting, the meeting wasn’t even for me, and I spit for about 30 people, I gave them 60 bars and they knew what it was. I ain’t have to play no demo, I didn’t have to lolly gag, a couple days later. I had my money, fresh out of jail.

13.How much was that advance check?

A Hundred ( Thousand). I spent it in 20 days.

14.Why you spent your advance so quick?

Because my name Billionaire nigga, A 100 thousand is like 100 dollars to me. I’m gonna be a business man at the end of the day, I ‘m gonna come up and do what I got to do. Basically some money ain’t worth stacking to me. This is what I really do, this is my goal, this is my aim, this is where I’m really going, so it is what it is. . They make that shit to spend it. When I get a big enough check to stack it, I will start stacking on the big check, If you give me 100 thousand , it might be a lot to somebody else, like 10 million might be a lot for me but it might be nothing for somebody else. By the time I had the check is was like spending money already., so it was basically to me gone before I even signed it,

What did you spend it on?

Clothes and restaurants and shit, Just chillen, flying just chillen for like 3 weeks, I contributed a little to the streets, besides what I contributed to the streets, so I could always in turn have money, so not be broke besides that, the luxuries, the clothes and everything else. But for the most part contributed to the streets and luxuries that’s what I did (with the money).

16.Why did you sign with JiCE and Sizzle Records?

Because we got a chemistry, I deal with a lot of people, and I don’t play the name game, I don’t get excited, I ain’t star struck. I got a motto, it’s called Jay- Z, Ja Rule, and Jesus, they all the same to me. So me and JiCE just clicked from day one, without us even doing business, neither one of us had an angle, we would just run in through studio time with Tommy Hillfiger, I met him through Tommy Hilfiger another billionaire that I fuck with, we was fucking we each other and we felt each other, the chemistry was there, we worked a couple of times in clubbed a couple of time, and we said we might as well do this, we both on our way on top, everything he do with his lifestyle represents what I talk about and what I talk about represent him well, it was just the right thing to do, and I’ve been happy ever since.

Do you feel a lot of pressure being that you are the first artist on JiCE’s label Sizzle Records? Nah, I like pressure, I like the spot light I like all that. I don’t feel no pressure, this is what I do all day long, I could do this shit in my sleep, with my eyes closed standing on my head, this shit ain’t nothing to me., this is what I like. I get nervous energy, excited energy to do certain things like when I rap for guys like I rap for guys like Jay-z and Puff (Diddy) and Jermaine (Durpri), and nigga’s like that, hut it’s just excitement , but it ain’t no pressure. I fee like Mike Tyson at 20 years old walking into the ring I know I coming with my bars, and I know I am equipped for them ,so it ain’t nothing to me.

Have you rapped in front of Jay-Z or Puffy before?

I did all that man, I never say I know somebody’s name, and they don’t know my name. If you ask anybody that know them guys and you say my name, they know my name is Freck, Freck The Billionaire they know who I am. The meeting I did with Jay( Z) he wasn’t expecting it from the door, because the meeting came at the spur of the moment from Tommy Hilfiger, I called Tommy Hilfiger at 10:30 in the morning and said I wanted to meet with Jay-Z, I was in his office by 12:30, it is what it is, this what I really do, it ain’t like no nigga trying to put some bars together or a nigga talking about he be on a G-4( airplane) and he never flown in a G-4, or a nigga said he did this, I ain’t saying that I own these things, everything that I’m from. You ever heard of the Magazine called the Robb report? It’s a luxury magazine called the Robb Report, and that’s where I became the Billionaire rapper from, when I was in jail I read the Robb report, it was like a millionaire major magazine, it showed all that real crazy crazy shit. Some girl when I was locked up was sending me the magazine, and I just seen private boats and all that, and I was like I got to be here, this is where i got to be at. And this is where I’m at right now, it was all a dream about two years ago, but it’s reality right now, I’m talking to you right now in the back of the Maybach. So it was what is was.

.So what did Jay-Z or Puffy think about your flow?

I went to Puff, when I was signed to track masters, and he tried to get me out my deal. That I would give him a headache if I couldn’t get out of my situation, and he said that there was a check over there when I was ready. And I wasn’t rapping for Jay to get a deal, I was rapping for Jay because he is one of the best that ever did it and still is. And if he do the same thing I do with rap, I’m like how I know him and he don’t know me. I basically wanted to give him them bars, I gave him a hundred thousand bars in his office, and he fell in love with it, the next day I went to call Tone from Track masters early in the morning to tell him that I rapped for the nigga Jay-Z. Jay-Z had already called him the day before, the same day, and I asked what did he think about me, he said that Jay Z said as far as talking about money, as far as talking about that Billionaire shit, he never heard nobody about the money the was I talked about it.. It was what it was, and then I seen him about a week later at a major event, and he came over to me, spoke to me, not nothing real crazy but just spoke to me and said What’s up, you still writing that heat, you doing what you doing it was what it was, it ain’t just bars for me, they see me where they at, I’m sitting where they sitting, if they doing this I’m doing the same thing, so them niggas got to respect my bars how I’m spitting it. I just another nigga rapping and chapping, I just basically wanted to let Hov know who I was because I feel him and I got all the confidence in the world that he would feel me, just like he did, and the test was passed when he seen me again and recognized who I was, when I stepped in his office he told me to spit my best two raps, after that he let me spit for 28 minutes after that, so it’s a good thing that he knows who I am right now, and that’s what it is.

When is the album dropping?
I am concentrating right now on making crazy bangers. When you say the name Freck Billionaire, I want you to know who I really am, the experiences when I went to jail, if I told them I did something, I really did it. I ain’t say I shot somebody up, I ain’t tell them I did this. Everything I say I did, I did. If I say im doing it today, I’m doing it. So, I’m basically trying to give the people me and a lot of time a lot or rappers and focus on things like the release date initially, I want to give them everything I got to give them and raise my level, because you only got one time to drop out the plane, if you ain’t got a parachute on you fucked up. So my whole thing is that I’m going to get money and I’m going to do fly shit regardless, if It take six more months I’m still going to live the way I live everyday, ever since Arista folded, I still live at the same address in New Jersey, 2200 dollars a month in rent, since 2003, ain’t nothing changed. It’s all good with me, I like to live the lifestyle along with the music, the music Is one thing, but l like to live the lifestyle with it makes it all coincide to make it all real. It makes the people feel the music more. If I keep talking about how Iced out I am, and I don’t got shit on , or I got a dirty tee shirt on you ain’t feeling me. but if I hop out of the back of the maybach and I got on 60,000 worth of Jacob’s around my neck, the broads, things come different for you

.What do you think about the other Philly rappers?

Basically I like everybody, I’m not a fan of nobody in particular, what I think about Philly rappers and what I bring to the table, the reason why I feel Philly rappers could never go to that next level because Philly rappers are just rappers. Nobody wants to be like a Philly rapper, You look at Beans, nigga are like oh that nigga hard. But nobody wants to be Fat Joe,, that’s the same reason why Fat Joe can’t sell no records. Then you got a nigga like Fabolous from New York, he rock Jerseys, the whole world is going to rock jerseys, Jay- Z rocks a button up, the whole world wears button ups because it becomes real life for them. So when you hear of Philly nigga’s you think that’s a real nigga, so basically that’s what I think I bring to the table, I appreciate what they did to put Philly on the map to even crack the door for a guy like me, I’m extra appreciative, but I feel like I bring something totally different to the game. Style, finesse, and real life.

Do you have a name for the album yet?

Nah, I’m kicking around with a few things, but I want to basically sit down with JiCE and one day a week we’ll listen to every fucking thing we doing and get a feeling about it and say we going to call it this. We want to hit us, like it’s going to hit the people. So we want to sit down and listen to everything the finished product and give it a real title.

Do you have a single in mind yet, or is it to early?

Yeah, it’s kind of too early. I got to sit down with JiCE and collectively we will come up with that. we just making bangers man, giving them pure heat. Sizzle- Freck Billionaire music

24.Who are you working with on this album?

We working with producers, we got Just Blaze on the job, we fucking with Pharell, we fucking with Fabolous, and a few other artists, but the Base is Freck Billionaire and Sizzle records.

What inspires your song writing?

Real life shit, before the deal, before ever coming to New York. I want to talk about how it really is like I got one song about a letter I wrote my mom from jail, it’s a real letter, a rap song is real life, the letter was about how my life was going and that’s what inspired the song, real life. And right now the thing that inspires me now is everything I see us doing, and thinking about all the places I want to be. I talk that fly shit, I like to see shit that make my stomach hurl, I like to see a million dollar car, it make me want to write more, and get to another financially and doing it on a major level, makes me get up in the morning and want to grind hard. And I also want to touch a lot of people, and let them know it’s aight to be successful, it’ cool do be from the hood and do what you do, but to be successful, you don’t got to feel like you got be afraid to spit a verse because you ain’t keeping it real, it may not be real to you, but it’s real to me. So basically I want to give people and even artists another way of looking at music. I’m trying to make different music, I don’t want to sound like nobody, I’m too much on my own dick. I want to bring something totally different to the game , I’m going to keep it Freck all the way through, not trying to sound like this nigga or be like this nigga I try to differentiate myself from other people, that’s why a guy like Nelly was able to sell like 10 million out the gate because Country Grammar didn’t sound like nothing else.

What’ rappers influenced you?

A lot of songs influenced me, but Biggie definitely influenced me, I love when he tell a story, he put you there, you there with the story. A lot of rappers can’t tell stories now a days which I can also. I like Hov( Jay-Z) also, I like his word play, I like the way he changes, his story is kind of similar to mine but different at the same time. I like guys like Fab(olous) but I like people even like C-Lo, so ti’s not like it’s just the main stream guys. I like everybody for different reasons . I like 50( cent) I like what I like about him I try to look at the positive about everybody. I treat it like a crab, I take the meat and throw the shell away, whatever I can use I take it with me. . There’s no body out there that I think really wack that’ I can say I don’t like nothing about him. Just like I don’t think there is nobody out there that is the greatest, because the greatest is like what kind of statement is that, music Is art, he did what he did, and (some one else) did that they did

What rappers out now you think are hot?

Right now of course you got Jeezy, all day long. He’s crazy I feel his album all the way from track 1 to 19. I’m feeling him, I feeling Fabolous, they ain’t too many people that I’m feeling now after watching the awards, I feel a lot of people are watered down and staged right now. And people getting the game fucked up, because hip hop emerged fro the streets. And the shit they try do ain’t street like.

What separates you from all the other rappers in the game ?

Basically I got a real slick, slick tongue when it comes to the fly shit, not the fly shit like the way Baby do it, I do it real chic on a high class level where I can spit it for you, I could spit it to a nigga from the streets, or I could spit it to a white nigga with 50, or100, or 500 million dollars and he’s going to understand what I’m talking about, and I’m going to speak it fluently. But I think the thing that really separates me is that I’m not afraid to be who I want to be all the way, I don’t make music or make a verse because I think this particular person is going to feel this way about this verse, I give 100 percent me, and the way I rap as far as that fly shit go bar for bar, my whole strategy my whole campaign is bar for bar I’m the hottest nigga. I’m going to give you something hot every bar. I’m going to give you my whole lifestyle and where I used to be, but right now I’m the billionaire and there ain’t other one out there.

Freck, I can’t make out all the words, I could either put an mp3's in the feature or you can fix and add the verse how you want it to read. I want to do both but it’s up to you, it doesn’t have to be that long or that short, it’s whatever you want to do with the written verse. I’m sorry for the inconvenience man. Let me know what you want to do

Can I hear a verse?

Yeah, we can do that, I ain’t never been shy.

“ Listen this how Sizzle do, America’s Freck/ I’m accepted everywhere like American express/ I keep my name on the big tip/ po po can tell who it is in that spider when I’m lo lo/ in the soft dirty coop on the lo lo entrelle/ I usually park it in front of Co Co Chanelle’s/ I only smoke exotic shit that stink when it’s blown/ the G4's like a condo make you think you at home/ flying real fast once you blink I’m in Rome/ And I party all night like I don’t believe in sleep/ with Titian woman giving out Titian treats/ and they don’t even speak ingles, they ring less./ Hell no I don’t recall what it cost for the fluid/ you see it ain’t what you do/ it’s how you floss when you do it/ I’m a boss when I do it that’s word to my record player, these tables turning quicker than record players/ until these rappers recognize, I ain’t going to be able to get no shut eye/ we could have a star war like return of the Jedi/ you fucking with a dude that got a past that you ain’t got a clue of// I got rocks from that Jacob that he only made two of/ I run the game like Dorset/ I endorse checks/ I’m not a boxer either, so if you put your hands up/ I’ll let you box the heater/ I been pimp since highschool/ my chain hold water like an Olympic size pool. I’m from West Philadelphia, born and raised on the corner is where I spent most of my days/ I caught a murder 1/ judge made it immunity, now we stay in Ft Lauderdale gated community/ They ask what I look like financially/ I said they ain’t no telling this/ lets just say you walk over to the black bent look in that glass box, see who’s name is in the black print.”

So I ‘m guessing you meet a lot of girls going to JiCE’s industry parties and hanging out with Tommy Hilfiger?

Girls be around me dog, I just got a 2 way from a girl from Brussels, Belgium. This is real life for me dog, it ain’t just raps. I really fuck bad bitches on the strength of me without telling them I rap, without having ice or nothing. It ain’t me telling them that I’m a rapper. I got two emails from bitches that don’t even speak English homey, it’s just me being who I am man, you know it is what is man, it’s self explanatory.

Since you been in the game, who it the hottest celebrity you got the chance of meeting?

As far as celebrity actresses, the hottest one I met in person that I liked a lot probably Jessica Alba, and Eva from Next top model, I actually tried to get a her, she was at a fashion show for my man Tommy Hilfiger, I ain’t really get a chance to get at her but next time when I see her on going to be on her heels, like a fresh pair of Roberto Cavalli's .

What about Jessica Alba?

I ain’t really make an advance at her, she was with a gentleman when I seen her. I had a couple of things in mind when I seen her. If I see any of them one on one, I’m going at them. I shake my dice with any of them

Where do you want to see yourself in two years?

In two years, 6.5 to 7 million records sold, working on new scripts, I’m working on a movie right now with Tommy Hilfiger, TH entertainment and Fox, called the paper boy, I’m about to start taking acting classes, I’m going to be using the same coach Sharon Stone used. I see my self with everything just living how I want to live, set for life.
